LAISEC Institute of Professional Security Studies (LIPSS) provides training to equip personnel interested in pursuing careers in the security profession. The training ranges from basic security guard training to advanced diploma covering all major security fields like risk management, business security management, VIP and personnel protection, anti-terrorism, disaster management, defensive on and off road VIP driving, ICT security, first aid and fire safety, public relations and many other tailor made safety and security courses.
LAISEC training also prepares government security agencies to handle unique and sensitive safety and security issues which are not normally covered in the standard career training for them. The training further helps the agencies in identifying and forming ad hoc teams of specialized troops to react to specific breaches of safety and security. More importantly, especially in developing countries’ setting, the training prepares uniformed personnel for life after active service. Armed with these skills, retired military/police personnel find it easier to secure employment with NGOs, UN Organisations, private and public sectors as safety and security officers.
Upon retirement, trained personnel can also be hired, like in the case of USA, to provide security to military and other sensitive government installations, thereby freeing soldiers and police to concentrate on their core duties. The USAF Andrews Air Base, which is arguably one of the most critical installations in the US for example, is protected by a team of highly trained and predominantly retired personnel who form the Air Force’s 11th Security Force Group (11th SFG).
The institute undertakes the following security courses and where applicable the courses are run up to higher diploma and degree level in collaboration with selected universities;
